AN EFFECTIVE DETECTION TOOL

The brachial perimeter measurement bracelet, also known as the MUAC bracelet, is an innovative and easy-to-use tool. This coloured ribbon enables mothers to detect malnutrition simply and quickly, while remaining at home and without the help of a carer.

Feedback from the field underlines the importance of equipping mothers and carers on the front line of screening to enable more effective treatment of vulnerable children and to extend early detection in cases of acute malnutrition.

This bracelet is made in France and 100% recyclable.

How does it work?

To detect malnutrition in children aged between 6 months and 5 years, simply wrap the bracelet around the arm and use the colour code to determine the degree of malnutrition: red for severe acute malnutrition, yellow for moderate acute malnutrition and green for no acute malnutrition.

Based on the latest UNICEF and WFP protocol, the pictograms on the back of the bracelet explain the instructions for use.
